Stubbornness in a child can be defined as a child's persistence in a movement without changing his / her reasonable reason, and not changing his / her behavior, thought or situation.

Stubbornness is a result of the child's emotional development and is most commonly experienced between the ages of 3-6. Stubbornness is normal at this age. The child shows stubbornness that results from the development of self-sense and consciousness of being free. The child wants to do everything on his own. He likes what he does and tries to overcome the resistance coming from his surroundings. He tries to make his own presence felt. He's always right in his own way.

In order to prevent stubbornness from turning into behavior disorders, experts tell us that you should pay attention to the following points;

• If you become more flexible, tolerant, patient and sharing when raising children,
• Stay away from harsh and rigid attitudes towards your child,
• If you do not block your child's steps to develop his or her personality,
• If you do not reinforce the child's behavior by using the word “stubborn,,
• If you do not fulfill the requests when the child shouts,
• When the child is stubborn on something, the child draws the attention in another direction, and if you persist, explain to the child that he or she will not get what he wants.
• If your child does not become oppressive and insistent during toilet and nutrition education,
• If you do not go into stubbornness or conflict with your child's stubborn behavior,
• If you are not late in meeting the basic physical and emotional needs of your child,
• If you, as a parent, adopt and apply the same methods in the education of your child,
• If you have the correct knowledge of child development and psychology,
• If your child is becoming stubborn with you, if you find the cause of his stubbornness and try to find a solution instead of punishing him,
• Include your “understanding and tolerance” skills in your parent roles and responsibilities
• If you often make your child feel that you love her with your words, behaviors and touches,
• Find and accept the stubborn aspects of your own personality, solutions and your child's stubbornness will noticeably diminish and fall back to normal limits.

Finally, remember that when the stubbornness of children is reinforced, they will behave inappropriately when they grow up. Since we will educate individuals who argue with those around them, who do not adapt, and who have a narrower angle of view, the pattern of behavior gained during these periods in their communication will constitute an obstacle for them.
